A recent study from Northwestern University has investigated various foods to find out if they can protect against Covid-19.
The researchers analyzed "the association between specific dietary data and the incidence of COVID-19 in the UK Biobank (UKB)." 40,000 records of adults were analyzed and referenced dietary factors such as food intake (oily fish, vegetables, processed meat, fruits, tea and coffee) were observed.
The result was published in the magazine "Nutrients" and highlights that in the United Kingdom the habitual consumption of one or more cups of coffee a day is associated with a 10 percent decrease in the risk of contracting COVID-19, that is, it protects even on people who have been exposed to it.
Another of the foods that protect would be vegetables and breastfeeding in the case of a baby. And on the contrary, processed meat seems to increase the risk of being infected with coronavirus and also in case of infection this would be more serious. On the other hand, tea and fruits, according to the study, had no effect whatsoever.
Therefore, drinking coffee daily is totally advisable, it contains substances that favor our defenses and it would be another way to stop the spread of the virus.
